DAY 3: PISCACUCHO / HUAYLLABAMBA
The great adventure begins! After picking us up at our hotel, we will pass through Ollantaytambo (2,792 mt. / 9,160 ft.) to do our last shopping and then head to Piscacucho (2,750 mt. / 9,022 ft.), at Km. 82 of the railroad, to enter the Inca Trail network. We will begin a light hike to acclimatize. We will appreciate the beautiful snow-capped Veronica and arrive at a natural viewpoint from where we will appreciate in the distance the archaeological site of Llaqtapata. We will continue to our first camp in Huayllabamba (3,000 mt. / 9,842 ft.).
DAY 4: HUAYLLABAMBA / LLULLUCHAPAMPA / WARMIWAÑUSCA / PACAYMAYO
The most intense day of the Inca Trail is ahead, so be sure to pack some extra sweets in your carry-on bag for extra energy. We will advance through the Huayllabamba Valley while observing the ecological change as we move from the highlands to the puna. In Yunca Chimpa we will prepare for the ascent to Llulluchapampa (3,750 mt. / 12,303 ft.). While enjoying a refreshing snack, we will appreciate the Huayanay Valley and our challenge for the day, the challenging Abra de Warmiwañusca (4,200 mt. / 13,799 ft.), also known as "De la Mujer Muerta". If we are lucky, we will be able to delight ourselves with the beautiful hummingbirds and sparrows that inhabit the area. Finally, we will descend to our camp in Pacaymayo (3,600 mt. / 11,811 ft.) to have lunch and rest after this day of challenges and spectacular views.
DAY 5: RUNCURACAY / SAYACMARCA / PHUYUPATAMARCA / WIÑAYWAYNA
Today will be the longest day of our trek, but at the same time the one that will impress us the most and with a lower degree of difficulty. We will ascend to the Runcuracay Pass (3,860 mt. / 12,664 ft.) where we will visit the archaeological complex of the same name and continue to the Inca citadel of Sayacmarca (3,580 mt. / 11,745 ft.) After lunch, we will cross the Phuyupatamarca Pass (3,700 mt. / 12,139 ft.) In the area, we will appreciate the best preserved Inca complex of the entire Inca Trail, whose meaning in Spanish is "above the clouds". After a refreshing rest, we will continue to Wiñaywayna (2,650 mt. / 8,694 ft.), an Inca complex that will leave us speechless with its numerous agricultural terraces and its religious and urban sectors. Here we will finish this day, camp and have our farewell dinner.
DAY 6: WIÑAYWAYNA / INTIPUNKU / MACHU PICCHU
DAY 7: MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO
Free morning. Tickets for Machu Picchu are limited, we recommend making the request for tickets for later days at the time of booking the program and thus avoid congestion or lack of availability locally. In an additional visit to Machu Picchu we will be able to visit sectors such as Intipunku or Sun Gate, the entrance to the Inca Trail citadel. For those who want a more intense adventure visiting the Huayna Picchu, you should consider that there are only 400 daily slots for ascents, which must be previously reserved. At the coordinated time, we will return by train and be transferred to the hotel. Overnight in Cusco.
