ITINERARY

DAY 1: SAN JOSÉ

Arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica. Upon arrival in Costa Rica one of our representatives will be waiting for you at the international airport to welcome you and then transfer you to the San Jose area. Lodging.

DAY 2: SAN JOSÉ - TORTUGUERO : VISIT TO TORTUGUERO TOWN

Breakfast. Early in the morning the expedition begins to the North Caribbean plains, where the main attraction is the Tortuguero National Park, one of the most exuberant national parks in Costa Rica. The tour begins with an ascent through the central volcanic mountain range where you can appreciate beautiful waterfalls and evergreen forests that adorn the Braulio Carrillo National Park, then upon arrival to the Caribbean plains enjoy breakfast and continue along a rural road is characterized by being surrounded by lush tropical forests and banana crops to the local dock, where we will take a relaxing boat ride of more than an hour through the canals of Tortuguero access surrounded by lush rainforest and allowing you to enjoy an abundant diversity of flora and fauna facilitating the observation of various types of birds, reptiles and monkeys, among others. Upon arrival at the selected lodge, you will receive a brief briefing on the activities to follow and the recommendations that should be taken into consideration when staying in the area. In the afternoon, you will visit the picturesque town of Tortuguero where you will learn about the lifestyle of the local people who use bicycles as a means of transportation within the small town and who have made tourism their main source of income. In addition, you will learn about the important conservation efforts that some NGOs have developed to protect the most important nesting site in the Caribbean for the green turtle, as well as the leatherback and hawksbill turtles that come to lay their eggs every year. During the months of July to September you can take the optional excursion (extra cost) that is coordinated directly with the lodge to enjoy during the night, one of the most impressive events of nature: the massive arrival of turtles to lay their eggs along the 22 kilometers of protected beach.

DAY 3: TURTUGUERO : VISIT TO THE TURTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast. Today you will visit the canals of the paradisiacal Tortuguero National Park that will dazzle you with its enormous biodiversity. From the boat you will feel a pure contact with nature in a paradise that offers visitors 2000 species of plants and 400 species of trees, you can also observe some of the 405 species of birds. Among the mammals you will find white-faced monkeys and howler monkeys, three-toed sloths, as well as some endangered species such as the jaguar, the manigordo and the tapir, which is the largest animal in the tropical jungles of America. There is also the presence of crocodiles, as well as different species of turtles and freshwater fish. Tortuguero will definitely offer you a unique and unforgettable experience. Lodging.

DAY 4: TORTUGUERO - ARENAL | VISIT TO TABACÓN HOT SPRINGS

Breakfast. At mid-morning at the selected lodge you will board the boat again enjoying the biodiversity present in the tour through the canals until you arrive at the local dock, to continue by road to the town of Guapiles where you can enjoy a delicious lunch and then continue to the northern plains of Costa Rica, this route offers beautiful scenery accompanied by picturesque rural towns such as Rio Cuarto, Aguas Zarcas and La Fortuna de San Carlos. From the latter, if the weather conditions are favorable, you will be able to appreciate one of the greatest natural attractions of the country; the imposing Arenal Volcano that will welcome you to the area with its majestic volcanic cone. In the afternoon we will enjoy a visit to the magical hot springs of Tabacón, here you will find several pools that flow through the Tabacón River and are heated directly from the volcanic veins of the volcano, the relaxing waterfalls will make you feel rejuvenated thanks to the benefits they give to your health; improving blood circulation and oxygenation, eliminates toxins from the body, stimulates metabolism and helps digestion, as well as promoting relaxation and improving the functioning of the nervous system, among others. All this surrounded by exotic gardens that will make you enjoy a natural and unique environment. To close with a flourish, you will enjoy a delicious dinner. Lodging.

DAY 5: ARENAL

Breakfast. This day is reserved for you to enjoy the different tourist attractions (extra cost) around the Arenal Volcano. If you wish to explore the area in a more exciting way, we recommend you to opt for the Sky Tram & Sky Trek. This excursion combines the ascent to the top of the mountains by means of a cable car enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lake Arenal, while the descent is done by means of pulleys attached to transverse cables that go from one mountain to another, to give way to adventure and fun. If you prefer a quieter excursion and admire the natural beauties of the northern plains, we recommend a visit to the Arenal Hanging Bridges, a system of trails immersed in the tropical rainforest where you will find 16 hanging bridges. The bridges and trails were built considering all types of visitors and their safety. This tour is adorned by magnificent views of the imposing Arenal Volcano and regularly you can find a huge variety of species such as mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and insects which makes it one of the most profitable in the area. DAY 6: ARENAL - MANUEL ANTONIO

Breakfast. Today you will continue your trip to the beautiful and paradisiacal beaches of Manuel Antonio, which are well known all over the world, especially for their impressive combination of tropical forests and white sand beaches. Undoubtedly an unforgettable few days await you, where you can relax and enjoy your 2-night stay at the selected hotel. Lodging.

DAY 7: MANUEL ANTONIO | VISIT TO THE MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast. Today we will enjoy a half day excursion to Manuel Antonio National Park (Monday closed) which contains an enchanting combination of lush tropical forest and beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters listed by Trip Advisor (Travellers Choice 2013) as the best in Central America and the park in turn recognized in 2011 by Forbes Magazine as one of the twelve most beautiful national parks on the planet. Within the park there is a great variety of vegetation, lagoons, mangroves, 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds. You will be able to observe several species of birds, reptiles and monkeys including the three-toed sloth. After the walk along the trails in the park - if you wish - you can stay on your own for a while longer to relax, enjoy the beach and sunbathe. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the hotel facilities or explore the area on your own. Lodging.

DAY 8: MANUEL ANTONIO - SAN JOSÉ

Breakfast. At the indicated time transfer to the airport to board the flight back to the city of origin. During the trip you will be able to appreciate different landscapes along the way.

  • There are no refunds or cancellations, change in name penalty USD $250 + VAT and this change can only be made prior to the issuance of the airline ticket.
